So apart from planning the culottes this long weekend, I’ve also made something new for Sirio. He’s been needing new pairs of jeans/trousers for a while now and I’ve just been too busy with TNLP/the shop to make him ones. Well, here they are finally! I’ve drafted the trousers pattern myself, based on basic jeans pattern referencing Patternmaking For Fashion Design by Helen J. Armstrong. The trousers came together pretty quickly (I’ve made them in one afternoon) and the pattern itself took a few hours to draft, but I did actually have to make the muslin twice for fitting.
I think they turned out great, and the sweetheart is pretty happy with his new pair of trousers. The fabric is cotton twill gabardine, which I found at a bargain price of €2/m! It has a soft and semi-velvety feel, which is very comfortable. I´ve given the trousers alot of ease at the crotch, since Sirio is going to be cycling around in them a lot. I´ve made pockets extra big (he still reckons they need to be bigger), so he can fit his wallet and mobile phone in them comfortably.
With Sirio being ‘anti-camera posing’, I had to try to capture some natural shots out of him! I hope you can see the trousers ok. I am very happy with them, and another pair is on its way! Smiley faces all around!
